Deliver Us : Review

Alrighto, time for a review.
I heard Darkest Hour a couple of months ago, with the first track i heard being Convalescence of the earlier album, Undoing Ruin. I Immediately liked the song. simple riff, being so melodic, that the music makes up for the lack of clean singing, which i always somehow tend to prefer. Don't know why. After hearing a couple more songs, like Sound Of Surrender and With A Thousand Words To Say But One, I got the latest release of their's, titled Deliver Us.
Deliver Us is more of a continuation of Undoing Ruin, without much for a change in music, with even less progressiveness. but it still owns !
The Album can be called as a mixture of All That Remains + In Flames + Killswitch Engage + At The Gates. What more could you ask for ? heh
The Album has a total Running time of 42:28 including the bonus track Closing On The Day.
Heres A Brief Review of every song.
1. Doomsayer(The Beginning Of The End) : The Album kicks off with this song. Starts of with a acoustic bit with multiple layers of guitar. goes into a massive double based riff, and then into this lightning fast riff white maintaining melody the entire time. The Double bass continues almost throughout the song, which is impossible, imo. Eventually goes into a solo section, which has its own riff, like most metalcore bands. into the solo, which is awesome. this band has some brilliant solo skills, having very melodic and memorable licks and shredding type solos, with a lot of sweeps used as well..all in all a good song, maybe more vocal versatility could have been better.
4/5

2. Sanctuary : This song quickly goes right into the verses, with a riff thats repeated heavily throughout the song. the Chorus has clean vocals (what?!) yeah, but they aren't too special, almost like spoken word. not a lot of melody. a solo was vital in this song, and lack of one makes it pretty repetitive with multiple listens. had potential, but wasn't worked upon.
3/5

3. Demon{s} : This was the first single off the album, thereby giving it more credit then it deserves. It is a Pretty good song though. The Chorus section is better then some other songs, and sounds pretty good, compared to something like Sanctuary. The Solo is where this song really stands out. it goes into a crushing riff, which in turns gets so quickly converted into a melodic solo using the wah pedal, Kris Norris is one talented bastard i tell ya. Nice song, but i think they should have worked on the chorus to make it more catchy.
4/5

4. An Ethereal Drain : This song in so musically and Instrumentally brilliant. the Riff itself sounds beautiful, almost a little karmic or something, its hard to explain. Lyrics on this song are really good, with sensible yet well though of stuff like 'Weaving our lives with chaotic design' sounding really ..'ethereal' ? hehe the chorus is awesome, but moreover because of the harmonized guitars at the back. the Solo on this song is probably the best one on this album. it has such a transparent, smooth feel, and sounds awesome. has heavy use of sweeps. the outro sounds really good. all in all a very fluid song that comes and goes, but feels very ethereal as they mention, and definetly one of the best on the album. Should have been a little bit longer though, especially at the solo section.
4.8/5

5. A Paradox With Flies : This song is , IMO, what should have been the first single, rather then Demons. the starting is brilliant, a fitting successor to An Ethereal Drain. The Song has a very atmospheric feel to it. Has one of the best choruses on the album, very catchy, and it stays in your head. Drums on this song are brilliant as well, transitioning between double bass and blast-beats. The Slowed down version of the bridge before the solo sounds awesome, with bits of double bass coming in at perfect times. A Solo would have made this song perfect, but for some goddamn reason they had to leave it out. nonetheless an awesome song.
4.5/5

6. The Light At The Edge Of The World : This is a small instrumental piece (with spoken word) has a very emotional sort of sound, a lot like Broken Wings of Undoing Ruin. Nothing particularly great and it seems more like a filler then anything else, but not too shabby either, as it is what is expected from Darkest Hour.
2.5/5

7. Stand And Receive Your Judgment : This is much heavier and less melodic songs then the other ones on this album, starting out with a lot of gallop-riffing. It seems almost like they've come up with this song as a mosh-friendly song. No matter, it has and great solo attached to it, which is pretty much what saves this song from becoming repetitive and boring.
3/5

8. Tunguska : Ive no idea what the name means, but the song is great. Goes back into melody from Stand And... with a drum-roll and slowish riff it goes into a fast paced verse riff with very intelligent use of the wah by Kriss. Chorus is good too, with some alternations of scream and clean by Henry. The Second chorus breaks down into slower version, with harmonized guitar, which sounds really good as well. Is the Longest Song on the album clocking at 5:32. The Solo is awesome, though it seems a little ripped off From Pull Me Under by Dream Theater towards the beginning, but breaks out into originality later. lot of Acoustic Interludes present in the song, which is probably why its so long. great song though, a nice mix of everything, if you get me.
4/5

9. Fire In The Skies : This song is straight out metalcore, but with Unbelievable guitar skilled showcased by both guitarists. a lot of harmonizing , harmonized solos, interludes, bridge section, everywhere..hehe...the is brilliant melody, which shows more melodeath influence then metalcore at times. but all in all a brilliant song, although just for the instrumentals.
4.4/5

10. Full Imperial Collapse : This is another heavy song, on he lines of Stand And...starts out funnily, with one of the guys telling the band to wait, but they don't...real fast song, lot of powerchord usage more then melody, with some slow guitar slides to add a creepy-ish sort of effect...has a kickass breakdown towards to the end...uses a lot of evilish-progressive sounding guitar licks as well..nice song, should have been a little longer with some versatility.
3,5/5

11. Deliver Us : First time that I've seen the title song come in last , heh. Has a more epic feeling to it, right from the beginning..its an alright song, nothing special as compared to the other, and i havent given it a lot of play time, but its a decent song
2.5/5

12. Closing On The Day : This song is a Bonus that comes with some CDs. Idiots. I have no idea whey left out such a awesome song from being included in the A-side...could have easily replaced one the songs...very melodic, with an awesome chorus, very catchy. The Solo is brilliant as well, which by now is very identifiable with Darkest Hour. The song should have been longer with a longer solo-section though..
4.5/5

All in All a Great album , with Brilliant Guitar and Drumwork. The Bass should be more present though, i feel. The Vocals could be better, maybe its time they got a change. Henry's Vocals dont seem to fit in too well with the music on a whole, though they are alright.

Inception : First Original

I Finally got off my ass i decided to go with what i had in my head and make an OC, Did the drums off Beatcraft, and since i have no knowledge of drums, rolls, etc, its just as basic as basic could be..
What im most proud of is the Intro and the Chorus and all the Harmonized parts through the song...Ive come up with EVERYTHING myself, nothing ripped from anywhere, though there will be very visible influences in all the parts, a lil bit of 'flames, trivium , deth...all through...
Its in the Song Structure made for Vocals, so it might seem boring at first, but should sound better with vocals...its in the basic song structure of Intro-Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Interlude-Outro..Done in Standard E (Yes i use Std E too :P)

Ive Decided to Call it Inception, because its my 'Inception' into the world of Originals, and i have an Inception(Entrance) Exam coming up, so a fitting name ^_^

Hopefully i should learn some more drumwork, and get something like Fruit loops, and the percussion should sound better too..

All in all its just what the name Azoth is, a mix of everything ... check it out, dont be too harsh, its my first...

The End Of Heartache : The Review

Hay! Ive been working a lot on the guitar these days and havent got time to review the band ive bin listening to almost all of last month, Killswitch Engage..
Very Metalcore, Probably even the definition of metalcore, these guys have been ehre for a very long time and it makes me feel guilty for not listening to them earlier despite having the album for a while now....
ive bin listening to Alive Or Just Breathing, End Of Heartache and As Daylight Dies, but ill start with TEOH because its probably my fav.
so without further adiou, lets begin

1. A Bid Farewell : Thats Wierd, who starts an Album with A Bid Farewell ? hehe, kidding, nice song, starts of with a spooky intro, goes into a heavier bit then, has very signature KSE elements, and yet has some very significant differences...a lot of trem picking....the pre-chorus trem harmony and the chorus trem-harmony sounds damn cool...this song really showcases then new singer Howard Jones Vocal power...hes extremely Versityle..has extreme scream, to total tenor vocals...the drums are a little more complex on this song then KSE usually has...all in all good song...decent starter to get you into what the album is going to be about..3.9/5

2. Take This Oath : Me Like Intro Riff! so simple yet crazy sounding, once vox join in it eventually goes into a Metalcore Riff...and thats when Adam D's Voiceover comes in...jeezus! Which Guitarists come BG Vox has such a good voice man ! its very fresh compared to howards, and gives the song a very infectious appeal..then back into the signature KSE Intro-as-Breakdown bit...then into an interlude, which opens out what the name of this song means...To The Grave,We Take This Oath.. why couldnt they just name the song To The Grave ? Beats me ! :P awesome song though, though very very typical KSE...4/5

3. When Darkness Falls : This is was my First KSE Song...got it off the Freddy Vs Jason Soundtrack... This Ones a Lot More Heavier, Offtime, less Melodic KSE, and It Pwns...the main riff is so insanely brilliant, so simple but just the offtime makes it rule! goes into a melo prechorus which sounds great, into the chorus, which is awesome, again showcasing Jones talent as a Vocalist, a total Bellower, a extreme screamer, as we can see from the bridge, and a total Tenor from his high note right at the end.....insane song, and will be one of my all time KSE fave's...4.5/5

4. Rose Of Sharyn : This was the Second KSE Song that i heard and the one that really got me into KSE..was somehow already on the Comp, heard it there...wow, what a song, blasting guitar, totally melodic, simple drums used to perfection, kissable chorus, into Intro-Breakdown, total Banger of a song!(no i dont say it often) then goes into this riff which had me listening to the song over and over again just for it, starts at around 1:56...brilliantly made riff...then goes into a slow clean interlude ( which is suprisingly seen a lot all over the album) again Adam Ds magical voice comes in, making this song complete :P...amazing song, maybe just one of the best on this album, i wont giv it a 5 coz they could have expanded it a bit more, it seems a bit repetitive after a couple of listens...4.8/5

5. Inhale : This is a small instrumental piece, that is almost compulsory for metalcore albums these days...very cool bit of acoustic work...almost sounds like clockwork playing in the background, it seems more like it should come after World Ablaze, but it doesnt...so what the hell, nice instumental peice, though it seems a bit of a filler...but dont all them intrumentals do?...3.5/5

6. Breathe Life : this song shows that the new KSE isnt too diff from the old KSE, breathe life sounds at the intro a lot time Temple From The Within from AOJB...Nonetheless, sounds damn cool, the prechor sounds damn cool, especially when the sustained palmute comes in, along with the double bass kick...the Chorus good, brings forward KSe viewpoint on everything, to get the point across postively without hate and what no...this is probably the only KSE song that has Solo ...a little Wah Bit, that sounds awesome, goes very well with the song, but just seems like something in between 2 choruses rather then having a identity of its own...awesome song, well made, and with a good message :) ...4.5/5

7. The End Of Heartache : The Title Song, The Most Talked About Song, The Song, The Song That Shot KSE To The Top...thats what its called these days...but i totally agree...amazing song...what guitar skills, what singing, gives the song such and epic modern day Metal Ballad type feel..amazing...Howards Signature Uncopyable Bellowed Vocals inpart are responsible for that feel...the Chorus is unbelievable...it actually gives you a positive, hopeful feeling, i dont know how they do it! incedible stuff...the little riff after the first chorus is too cool, Adam D is teh Mastah! The Song is pretty much repeated after that...then it goes into this crazy outro with Whamy usage and stuff, that gives it that no-why-is-it-the-end-of-the-song feel, but then it goes into a slow almost popy part, but is quick to comeback right to its heavy home chorus, which another bunch of insane vocals...this might just be one of the immortal type songs on this album...5/5

8. Declaration : If you though the title song was a little to commercial for you, then Declaration will perfectly balance you back to your sweet spot...this one is less metalcore, more thrashy, powerful and crazy...barely any clean vocals, except for Adam Ds Shexeh voice in between....this song, like most songs, takes a couple of listens to really like it and appreciate it...Its not at all typical KSE, very out of the box, back to roots KSE, which is totally likeable as it brings about a real change and a break from all the melody, and gives you something to really clench your fists too...the riff is almost godlike...first higher, then lower...awesome stuff, really awesome stuff...4.5/5

9. World Ablaze : I had heard a lot about this song, so i decided to finally give it a listen, and i what i got was total insane riffage and melody! the Main riff is FUCKING Hardcore man...i couldnt get it outta my head for the rest of the fckin day! totally crazy shit...just when you think itll be a almost no melody song like Declaration, it breakup into this insanely melodic prechorus which sounds incredible, and then it goes into the Chorus, which has one of the best metalcore riffs i have heard to date, with a harmonized part that makes me want to make everything i make harmonized! that good! amazing song, just see the feeling it gives you on your first listen...its bangs your fckin shoes off man...the Breakdown after the 2nd chorus is awesome , with a lot of double bass, and suddenly its back into melodies, and suddenly back into a semi-melodic breakdown, its like a freakin rollercoaster ride, crazy spins, but totally enjoyable...youll want to climb on again and again! 4.8/5

10. And Embers Rise : This song is another instrumental piece, a little longer, with more poppy strumming, but still it sounds so good, almost like an interval, a breather from the total in you face force that KSE is...makes you want to just close your eyes and think about you, and your life...very cool bit....huh ?...a little feedback.....into Wasted Sacrifice! ... 4/5

11. Wasted Sacrifice : This is again a Heavier KSE Song that balances out With And Embers Rise...with a very very fast main riff, and a lot of double bass, lots of over the top guitar work in this song...and just when its getting heavier and heavier, it suddenly breaks into this very very melodic almost commie chorus, which sounds verry cool, and balances is out with the heavy parts...just shows that KSE are an extremely talented bunch of dudes...goes Back into the heaviness for a verse repeat...and back into the melodic chorus again...good shit...a very very heavy breakdown follows, and then back into the melodic chorus...what skill! 4/5

12. Hope is... : The Last Song in the album but by far one of the best too on this album, has a very very Swedish Melodic Intro, which goes into a Classic Killswitch Riff, and into a very insane heavy breakdown, which is acutally a verse..the prechorus is very similar to My Curse from As Daylight Dies, which ill be reviewing later...the Chorus is very cool, has the entire band sing along with Jones, and sounds good...then it goes into this acoustic part that again sounds a bit like clockwork....has a little bit of a bass solo, and very deathy vocals towards the end...insane!..a very nice song, and a fitting end to a brilliantly made album...4/5

Awesome Album, probably in my top 15 Albums of All time, just because of the way the Vocals, Guitar, Melody, Riffing just match like bread and butter even though it all shouldnt :P...is really good stuff, and i think i will be listening to it for a while now...

Ruin : Song Cover

Yesh! My 3rd Lamb Of God Cover. Laid To Rest was actually up next but i realised there are a couple of parts i couldnt play x_x

So Ruin It was! From As The Palaces Burn.

Honestly i though it would be a piece of cake. but wasnt..it clearly took me long enough for me to figure that out...just like 11th Hour this song has those super-fast crappy parts i cant get right too

Ive Done both the solos in this one, with a JCM800 model patch with Reverb and Min Delay, sounds pretty decent, not totally accurate, but then again the last time i got a accurate solo was never -.-' the major bending(or whammying) at the end ive done by just normal bends and stuff, and it sounds alright too...

was a pretty long song, not as long as 11th hour, but felt long..it originally clocks at 3:54, but i stretched it to 4:08, because i dunno how to do the divebomb or whatever that is at the end, so i just let the palm muted D go on...

Check it out, and blah blah blah

11th Hour : Song Cover

Yeah, that next song cover came quicker then i though it would! 1 day!

11th Hour by Lamb Of God from Ashesh Of the Wake is the one ive chosen...

Ive used two separate guitar parts on the track, as left/right inputs, just how they do it...thought it wouldnt come out too well, since they picking is relatively complex, but it came out well, and the whole song came out quite good..except for

The Part from 2:37 to 2:55, thats about the only part where i screwed up...doesnt sound good, sounds out of sync, i know, but i was too bored and frustrated, so to hell with it! 2 songs in 2 days is a feat...

Otherwise its pretty good, the hardcore influenced riff sounds good too...im pretty happy with the overall song, makes my feel like i have improved, much more on my recording and patching skills then on my guitar work :)

done in DADGBE with a Backing Track off the Next, is in with Omerta..but song structure is right on this one...

Omerta : Song Cover

Yes, Im Covering some Lamb Of God..

After AILD, i needed something more Technical (And still without Major Leads)
And I Landed up on Lamb Of God..some of the Best riffing ive heard...its like a Multi-Genre...anyway back to the point

When i first heard this song, i knew i had to cover it...though the latter bridge would be tough, but it turned out to go pretty easy and pretty smooth...i think THIS is the closest ive come to mimicking the actual 'sound'

As usual, Backing Track used, while all Guitars done by me..was thinkin of recording me saying the intro, but i sucked even at that X_X, So i just Ripped Blythes Voice Of the Original and Threw it in...Theres a Extra Second Verse, but thats how the Backing Track went, so i had no choice. almost flawless work.. the sound should be perfectly smoothened out once i get my amp, come June 15th!

Hopefully Will have 11th Hour Out in a Couple Of Days too, but getting both guitars right is pretty difficult so i might take longer...Till then enjoy this one!

Its a Cover Of the As I Lay Dying Song from Frail Words Collapse...with, as usual, all guitar parts done by me, but the Bass and Drums taken off Guitar Pro..Again here ive got the Guitar pan ( left right channels) almost perfect...didnt have too many problems, except for a nagging latency issue, but i found out that restarting Nuendo Fixed everything...so ^_^
The Song is Supposed to Be In Drop C, but its drop D..why ? check the earlier entry...

Confined : Song Cover

Was just sitting around, when i tough i should cover, some As I Lay Dying...and this is what i got about 4 hours later...pretty rough cover, tried to do my best...tones arent that great, very trebly...the drums and bass I've taken off Guitar Pro, so bassically theyre MIDI..

Tried to Get the Left Right Guitar pan as perfect as i could..obviously had problems..but tried to fix them the best i could...for example, my soundcard is malfunctioning, and i cant hear the left channel at all, so i can even hear my finishe product!
As of now, i dont own an Amp, so i coudlnt acheive the feedback in the beginning, so i used a 6th fret D-string Natural Harmonic, with volume pot for the swell, doesnt even sound remotely close yes, but i had to put something there...
The Entire song is in DADGBE, Not CGCFAD, like it should be...but cmon, new guitar, im still not confident about shifting to D as yet...maybe in a while...
Constructive Criticism is welcome, no rants and flaming please..

You can Listen to the Song on ttp://www.myspace.com/azothproject

Ascendancy : The Review

HOLY !#$)! Was going through my blog, and i realised, i havent reviewed Ascendancy! How the F*ck did that happen ? how did i not review the most influential album in my life?! Jeez! Well, Another tedious review starts once again, but i have to do this...cant believe i didnt...:@!

Okay, Lets Start
1. The End Of Everything : The Start of the Album.Very similar to What Intro Does on the Poison..mellow acoustic play, with pianos here, just to get you excited, and pumped up, a little repetetive..not all that great...but good acoustic work, the clarity is great, and the Aahs give it a very epic feel, and this album is epic!.. so ill give it a 3.75/5

2. Rain : This song popularity probably gave trivium respect they deserved, which led to the making of The Crusade...THE Thrash Metal Song...Ownage Riff, what fuckin picking, fucking kicks ass all over from 0:01...pre chorus owns, chorus owns, every fucking thing owns...one of my only favourite songs that doesnt involve a single pinch harmonic! and its still the fucking shit...machine like drumming man..one of the best drumming on the album..travis smith ko total slaam...breakdown sounds insane, the most melodic chorus comes right after it, which sounds good too...solo is great too, though i think it should have gone a bit longer, would have made the song platinum from gold :P...ironically the outro is the heaviest...makes you just fucking bounce out of your chair man...insane shit..one of the finest trivium has to offer..6/5

3. Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr : Another Trivium Great...starts off with the most intricate drumming...goes into a tizzy with total trem pick and simple powerchords used to fucking well, trivium are geniuses...total anthem sort of feel, with a totally melodic chorus, lighniting fast song, with no slowdowns, no breaks at all...Was probably the song that made me stare into space with wonder at the workmanship and genius...breakdown before the solo, sounds insane, and fucking fast..."You ask me Oh God, Why ? 'cause im god, thats fucking why!" insane matt-corey style solo that ive come to know so well...still blows me away...insane shit...back to pre chorus, harsh vocal, back to chorus, whole song structure is so typical, yet so perfected, sounds brilliant..another masterpiece..5/5

4. Drowned and Torn Asunder : Yeah, Thats where my blog name came from...that start of this song was what just got me stuck to it...initially that was what i liked the most, but after listening to the whole song, so many more aspects came forth...Heafys Vocal Abilities show well here, from Harsh to Harshes Vocals, To total High Melodic Vocals...the Chorus Sounds good, The Breakdown after the 2nd chorus, showcases the drumming abilities of smith, and then the tapping abilities of both...then solo, this is the insanest solo switching song that trivium has ever made without doubt.with count Solos are switched 4 times, and then it goes into a Harmony solo, and all of em just leave you speechless, each solo has a unique feel, unique process, yet as a whole sounds so seamless, and before you know it, its over and your wanting more...awesome song, could have maybe been worked upon more..4.5/5

5. Ascendancy : The Title Track, and unlike what other people say, i think this track very-much lived up to the expectations.this was THE FIRST trivium song i ever heard, and this was what got me into trivium.. Insane trem-picking at the verse, insane trem pick at pre-chor, melooodicc chorus...back to insane trempicking, even though verse to chorus sounds like sky to earth, they still make it sound as a whole, just using octave-chords in between...total genius, i tell ya! again, bridge, insane picking, with a extremely melodic ascend, into solos, very powerful one, which all credit goes to corey for...then a simple yet brilliant dual solo which perfecty bridges back to the verse, into chorus again, at which point the songs ends, in heavy melody, without granduer..good song, but again, should have had more versatility, 4/5

6. A Gunshot To The Head Of Trepidation : Wow, this song is another masterpiece, at another level, melody galore! starts with octave chords, into fast picking, into jazzish riff. the song potrays child abuse, and how he would shoot the fear out of himself if provoked...goes into a beautiful bridge, which speaks for itself...post next chorus the bridge is extended, which goes into the actual chorus...which i didnt like allll that much...doesnt sound all that great...though lyrically it is sound...then into bridge to solo, similar to pull harder...but the solo work here is absolutely enthralling, i could go on listening to just the solos and be content...this is according to me, where the true pull of the song lies...goes into a harmony solo, which i think is trivium best harmony solo ive heard, it gives the song such a different aspect all of a sudden, from the blistering rhythm guitar..after that, one of the lows of the song arrives..a very boringish, Hey Hey part, just like in Anthem(we are the fire) Maybe the song could have done without it, maybe it couldnt, but its alright, i dont hate it, but not much affinity either...great song, great structure, a Trivium classic. 5/5

7. Like Light To Flies : Possibly one of my favourite trivium songs of all time, the fast fast riffing, the melody, the lyrics, and best of all, the prechorus, that prechorus is such a pleasure to play..i could become the fast shredder on the planet, and still play it...the chorus lyrics are a little stupid, but meld in with the song like butter on toast...beautiful beautiful........back into the blistering verse, and then the sweeet prechorus again...yeah im in love with it :P...The Drumming work here also has to be exemplified...adds such a insane drive to the song, and at the clean choruses, stays at the back so loyally...the pre-solo bridge sounds great too, and the structure, though unorthodox, sounds great...coreys solo is mind blowing too, he can play the fastest solos, and the slowest solos, and they all sound great...harmonized solo, into heafys solo, fast fast crushing speed, which suddenly stops back into the intro riff, into a quick prechor, into chorus...atypical structure, but maybe that what adds to the song...i can listen to this song forever, seriously..6/5

8. Dying In Your Arms : The Commercial song of this album, whos sucess also lead to the making of this world cant tear us apart onto the crusade...easy song, yet so melodic, yet so heavy, yet so listenable, i wont lie, before it all, this was the song that made me want to listen to more of trivium...the chorus is great, the pre solo bridge is insane, sounds great, with the sudden harsh vocals, into the solo, solo is coreys magic at work, as it always is...fast,melodic, and i can almost play it! woot! then back to the chorus, which goes into the signature trivium octave climb, good song, all through, very likeable..4/5

9. The Decieved : I Heard this was taken of older trivium work, but this song still has a very good feel, starts with galloping, good verse work, prechorus is good too, but what probably has to be the best thing about this song, has to be the chorus...so melodic, so beautiful..no words to describe it! then it goes into repeat, like Light To Flies..the bridge after the second chorus, with the harmonized sort of solo, sounds straight up great, intro a breakdown-sort of thing, which sounds brilliant, into solos, corey as usual insanely melodic and beautiful.. slows, ascends, and sweeps...repeat into matts solo, this one is a little quicker, but has the same structure, slows, sweeps and ascend, back into chorus, ah, that beautiful chorus....great great great song...another trivium classic, exposes theyre talent as versatile musicians..4.5/5

10. Suffocating Sight : This song is another great, chordy intro, into a gutwrenching crushing verse, which is melodic, yet at a breakneck speed...the lyrics, though interpreted to be very funny, are actually great and make a lot of sense..about apprehension, insecurity, and the likes..the chorus sounds great too, and using Dying in your arms chording, but sounds totally different, and i needed tabs to realise it...the breakdown post chorus, is again totally moshable shit...break heads! into a fast fast solo, one of the fast on ascendancy, but its stays short, back into the breakneck riff, and then this wierd depressed part which i didnt like...signature octave rise, with o's towards the end, which showcases the vocal talent too..4/5

11. Departure : This song is thoroughly underrated, has a great starting, goes into a bit out acoustic work, and has clean vocals for most of it...but again, shows the vocal work that heafy does, which sounds so great in every form...the chorus is another great, and feels like it has so much emotion in it, it makes me want to cry! ;)..enough of the slow crap...into a totally indecipherable riff that just blows minds, tempo goes into 5x original tempo...fast ascending solo follows...then suddenly, its acoustic again! hehe....well, they had to go into the chorus again, or it wouldnt be trivium :), but a great song, that deserves a lot more praise then its actually getting 4.5/5

12. Declaration : This song is the underdog of the album, that comes out so late...but shows trivium melodic yet heavy appeal...the lyrics, and vocals on this song are simply mind-blowing...and the trem picking reminds me of the ember to inferno age...this song does look like its been though out and not just concieved to be a filler...the chorus on this one, matches the beauty of The Deceived, in all its majesty, and i stand corrected, this is undoubtly the best trivium chorus ever! just so mellow, yet so insane...goes into a long bridge, which, at no point, is even remotly good, its absolutely incredible at all points! this is the only song from this album that hasnt been tabbed perfectly, and its understandable...so intricate, so melodic...the singing here also, is so incredible, shows how the voices gel to make such ergonomic portions of music...and BLAST, into a breakneck riff, which is repeated a bit, but gets you wanting for more, and then slows down , into a quick pick..allll the way back into the verse and prechorus, and that chorus.....aaahhhhh, a chorus like one that could calm the mightiest of storms...the power of melody! into a breakneck slow chugging riff, that just completes this song, into one of triviums finest and most intricate works...5.5/5

These Were Bonuses On The CD:

13. Blinding Tears Will Break The Skies : Name Dont Make sense ? thas what i though too...hehe...but the song in itself is pretty good, a fast one, with a lot of melody again, and a very very good chorus, which sounds very triviumy, but still, serene yet powerful, an almost antithesised match..hehe...the signature repeat, what follows is some insane work, which again displays talent infused into heafy and co. has some portion which were used in crusade...very noticeable...still a nice song, which maybe should have come onto the main album too, so that everyone could here it...enjoyable...4/5

14. Washing Away Me In The Tides : Another wierd wierd...but this song is based almost entirely on the main riff, which repeats a lot, but is so complex, you'd never get bored of it! signature chorus, though a little hastyish..the pre-solo rhythm reminds me of ember to inferno's, the solo is very coreyish but has a intresting sweep to it...good stuff, though i dont think this song has enough range to have gotten onto the main album..good decision guys! 3.5/5

All in All, one of the best albums i have heard, of which i like almost every song...immortal stuff...Hail Trivium! Only if they didnt idolize Metallica so much... :\

From Mars To Sirius : Gojira : Review

Again, long time no post, my exams got over a while back, so i tought it would be injustice not posting anything up here, now that im free. So ive decided to Review Gojira's From Mars To Sirius.

Gojira is a French Band. The Genre is currently very debatable..from Doom/Drone/Death Metal To Progressive/Thrash and even Metalcore..No Matter what, they are Metal, and undoubtly, one of THE HEAVIEST and most innovative bands that ive come across, nah fuck that, they ARE the more innovative band man...in'fuckin'sane shit...theyre Material isnt perfect, but sure does come close to it.Chugging Intricate Riffs, Insane Harmonics,Crazy Pick Scrapes, and some other shit i dont even know! some of the Craziest Drumming ive ever seen...monstrosity...they are often labeled Eco Metal, as they base all theyre material on the world, and how we are destroying it. Hm. Sensible.

I found about them when i heard theyre going on tour with Trivium and Lamb Of God, and they were french, so i got curious, and thank god i did! heh!

I have been unable to acquire the entire album, so im going to write a review on all the songs that I have heard so far.

1. Ocean Planet : The Album Starts of with this, Whale Sounds- Chugg-Riff- Harmonic- Progressive Interlude X 20!
Fuck, just shows intricacy and talent right there...perfect mixdown of so many elements..sounds beautiful, vocals come in perfectly..lots of off time beats and guitarwork comes up ahead, sounds quite killer, then back to the opening riff..then another small bridge, and thats where the double bass kicks in, with general picking, sounds killer when the vocals are added there...couple of more sound changes, singing becomes more melodic, which goes into a heavy-as-bricks outro, again speckled with harmonics and insane pick slides which i dont know how they replicate..brilliantly made song, i liked the main riff the most, good shit. 4/5

2. Backbone : Feedback.... low volume riff..... FUCKING IN YOUR FACE INSANITY! Has to be one of the best songs on the album, brilliant lyrics, vocals, drums, guitars..the interlude reminds me of meshuggah style trem-pick, which goes into a octave-chorded riff, which along with the vocals sounds sick. totally brilliant shit man..highlight of this song has to be the Drums, check the double bass in parts, major time signatures, the works. really crazy shit...goes back to the opening riff, verse 2..then the entire song slows down for a bit, going into this sudden dazed mode....when your all tired...Beat your feet on the Ground now, GO! another insane picked riff, sounds simple yet powerful...one of the best bridges ive heard...even here drums keep changing so much, yet seam in so well...song ends well too.. Krazee shit. Blows my brains out, slaps me around, and gets me back to my senses.ohh yeahhh.. 4.5/5

3. From The Sky : This song sounds less death metal in the beginning, more of a higher-picked-heavy metal riff...then goes into this insane double bassed, harmonic slide riffage, which Gojira is so fucking good at doing..then eventually slows down into this muted semi-slow interlude, which sounds like its building up to some insane, which it is, mass trem-pick, over and over , with those mind-numbing drums, then the death metal elemnent comes in, guttural screams and lows, and thats how it ends..havent given too much listen time, thats why i wont giv it a flat 4, but from how many times ive heard it, i like the overall structure, nice song, showcases Gojiras trademark guitar-work. 3.99/5

4. Unicorn : This song is almost like an Interval, a break from the Crushing Gojira, to the progressive slower Gojira. but even here, they dont have the typical acoustic breaks, but rely completely on Natural Harmonics, coupled with recorded Whale talk...which i think is pitch-shifted to give the song a very atmospheric beautiful sound, but its a bit repetitive, because other then the whales, everything remains the same, and alas, no matter what, its just a filler 3/5

5. Where Dragons Dwell : this song IS NOT called where Dragons Fall, its DWELL you bitches! Song starts out with a very similar to Ocean Planet Riff-plan, Octavechord-ChugChug-Harmonic...then goes into the artificial string travel thingie, along with double bass, then verse 1, which abruptly ends with a Artificial Harmonic, and goes back into the intro riff, which i dig. Then Verse 2, in the same way as verse one, sounds very Mastodon/Meshuggah style, but with its own uniqueness..which is Gojiras Strength...The Song Stops Abruptly, into this Atmospehric Effect-laden Passage which sounds like coming out of a heavy storm to see the sun and a brilliant blue sky, only to fall back into the Storm...clever bastards..give the song another dimension all together..im going to give this song a .2 extra just for that! back to a double bass infested riff, which repeats for about 2 minutes in totality...thats where the song loses points, if they had made a insane outro, or hell, even the re-intro would do..and for that ill give them a 4.2, or they would have got a 4.7...great song.. i dig the shit outta the intro riff, thank god for Gojira! 4.2/5

6. The Heaviest Matter Of The Universe : This was the song that first got me into Gojira, The First Song i heard, i didnt like the starting that much, just the same thing, with different riff..then it changed to some detuned sounding chord...GO! the most killing riff on this album, 101% f*cking sure! again singing comes in at the perfect time...then a bridge, with trademark Gojira Double Bass And Slides...Uber shit...then a metalcorish slower riff, with the cleanest vocals on the album so far, but no harm, infact it adds to song, making it better..This song is the Shit, Dont like Gojira ? You WILL like this song. 4.75/5

7. Flying Whales : This one is a little Different, Starts Out with Whale Sounds, then clean guitar.. Slow and Steady, though the Improvised Drums Sound Pleasant..goes on for a bit , sounds repetitive at first, but seems to fit in perfectly after a few listens...then a small pause, and the main riff half-kicks-in...and when it does, in Kicks the shit out of me ! Detuned, yet so simple, yet so motherfuckin' powerful, core shit man... that was what led me to cover this song, other then the fact that it was easy :P...Major double bass usage in this song...left most of my drummer friends in awe lol...then the progressive intro, but heavier, and this is where Joe Duplantiers voice comes out, shows his talent by changing from clean to shout, to guttural, all of it..and then it changes into a blast-beat devin townsend type riff...and soon dies out into a clean guitar passage..with the drums slowly building up...which ends up in them using the same clean passage in mindblowing heavy fashion, the harmonic slides really showing out here...another 'up-there' song... 4.5/5

8. In The Wilderness : One of the Lows of the album, i Havent given this song too much play time, so like Room 409, i could be wrong again, but from how much ive heard, its a 8 minute drone, slow and repetative song...sounds like its not worked on too much, which makes it look like a filler, even though it might not be....some parts shine, but on the whole, not too good...not in the same class....2/5

9. World To Come : I havent been Able To Acquire this Song, so when i do, i will let you guys know.. -/-

10. From Mars : The Guitars on the entire song are the same, but its so well done, that it sounds so briliant...the vocals sing along with the guitar, in an almost whisper, which gives the whole song a very dreamy feel...the drums also come in well, on lower volume , or whatever, in a way that its not disturbing.. lyrically also, the song shines...read up the lyrics, once you do, though, the song might not sound the same, so do it at your own risk...once again, shows the more progressive side, but not in a unicorn-interval way...song Abruptly stops and goes into To Sirus, to in a way, complete the album name.hehe..nice stuff, shows their versitality. 4/5

11. To Sirius : This song kicks in abruptly, like being shook out of a dream into actualy reality..does feel uncomfortable, but after a couple of listens, once i expected it, i actually liked it... starts out in a very techincal death metal way..VERY techinical, INTRICATE guitar, drum work..at 0:35, this bridge starts and ive no fckin idea how its played, if anyone does, let me know! Is it artiharms on different parts of the same string and fret ? sounds killllllerrrrr...There are soo many time signature changes, and it sounds almost pleasantly uncomfortable...one of the best drums i have ever heard..im sure itll be impossible to even make a drum track hehe...crazy shit..Blistering Beats, 240 bpm plus double bass, etc. im no drummer, so i cant tell you guys everything..this song sets itself apart from the rest of the album. a very unique sound, even more unique in a way that it changes all your thoughts on Gojira, though all the sounds are all the same...wicked..again, the outro is dragged out over 1:30 minutes, which is not too bad, but could have been better..none-the-less, really nice, unique song..i like i like.. 4/5

12. Global Warming : This song almost starts out Electronica lawl, but gets into a almost-metalcore riff, in the path of As I Lay Dying.. Vocals Sound wierd, processed, not raw , the way weve got to like them...but soon the song gets back into its more original style, the gojira styl lol..song gets a little repetitive, but i havent given this song too much of listen time too..so i might just be wrong...but ive realised i should, so i will, and then maybe give a more detailed review..but fuck, ive already told you guys, Get Gojira..it is teh shit... but so far, il give it a 3/5

again, Gojira is TEH shit..one of the best ive heard, a breath of fresh air, a mix of lots of sub-genres of metal, making a completely different genre of its own! Gojira is real good, probably in my top 10 , even though i havent heard a lot of em...its just the Contemporary nature that attracts me to it..this is what New Metal should be, not that crappy Nu Metal shit like Korn, etc. A must buy for Techincal, Death Metal, as well as Thrash Metal Fans..Total Recom.Global Peace!

Anthem (We Are The Fire) Single : Review

Okayy, this was a single released by Trivium before the release of crusade, it has Anthem, which is on The Crusade(meh), Broken One, and Vengeance, both songs are b-sides that didnt make it to The Crusade .. So anyway, i dont have much else to do, so ill review em.

1. Anthem (We are the Fire) : Blah ive already reviewed this song...go check below, or okay, ill copy-past, so you dont have to waste energy =D
Now, this song is the exact opposite of the others, its completely non-trash, and feels a bit sort of like KISS or something, the more classic metal types...good song though...though the Woooaahhh, Yeaaahh part was unecessary and makes it sound a lot like Gunshot to the head of trepidation..awesome solo breaks, and harmoized solos there 4/5

2. Vengeance : Probably the first complete thrash trivium song i heard after detonation...good song. simple powerchord riffs...has a interlude that sounds, not-suprisingly, very similar to Rains...on the chorus, when its repeated, has awesome double kick , the sorta blast beat..sounds good..good shred/sweep/legato solo, sounds good, very corey-ish...what i liked most about this song is that the drums sound killer, anotherwise, not much melody, which im a sucker for..4/5

3. Broken One : Now this sond was different, not the typical Trivium you heard/hear, has a bass intro, which sounds killer, though the guitars dont kick in well, could have made it better there..like the change in drums, very enter-sandman like (ugh), verse goes heavy all of a sudden, giving the song a nice all-round feel, the chorus, like many songs on the Crusade, is very very catchy, melodious, and unfortunately, emoish :P, the solo kicks in right after the second chorus, sounds awesome, well melded, the part in between the solos could have been better...the outro chorus, with the double kick sounds awesome, and the intro-outro with the guitars sounds great too, nice song, was different , so i liked it, should have been on the Crusade, but theres no song it could have replaced :( 4.5/5

thats all, just a single...so, until we meet again, happy neck-achin!

The Poison : Another Review

Well, long timeo...but hey, i bin busy..anyway, ve gotten over trivium, and moved on to ...uh..less metal metalcore :P so anyway, today ill be reviewing my latest ear-tonic, Bullet For My Valentine's, The Poison..Here goes..

1. Intro : this instrumental starts with some smooth cello work, done by the swedish-cello-nutjobs apocalyptica..and progresses into a typical base shifting but catchy clean riff...becomes harmonized, and then has a very very pantera like solo to it...dive-bomb and all..nice way to start it out..has a very pre-war feel to it...though a little monotonous...3/5

2. Her Voice Resides : The Heaviest song on the album, starts super abruptly, goes thru a good verse, chorus is alright, which i like the most is the post-chorus, re-into with the pinch harmonic...sounds awesome...very headbangable lol hehe..after the 2nd chorus, the song slows down, goes more melodic, changed style and speed, more boutique-amp type effects...solos good too...very varied, quick-slow-quick type...outro is nice.. good song, me-likes...4/5.

3. 4 Words (To Choke Upon) : one more heavy heavy song...less melodic, more trashy, insane pinch harmonics on the interludes...INSANE post chorus, id headbang to it at a wedding! awesome double kick drums on alteration at the back...solo is awesome too...keeps switching in guessing, sounds good...what i didnt like is what comes after the solo...not that nice, guess they couldnt think of anything better...well...crazy speedup outro..4/5.

4. Tears Dont Fall : one of the more commercial songs on this album...though pretty heavy...intro,verses go well, has a nice love-hate vibe to it...after the 2nd chorus is a interlude, that makes the songs true metalcore...awesome riff, even more fun playing it on the guitar :P, solo is the fastest on the ablum, though a little messy and non-melodic, good...has verry mosh style, right after the 'lets go'...best part is the outro, catchy tune...sounds nice, emoish, but what the hell, awesome song..4.5/5

5. Suffocating Under Words Of Sorrow : The first time i heard this song, i knew id like it, just because the riff was sooo catchy and insane...songs good...the drums on this one are awesome, the gallop beat...the chorus has wicked pinch harmonics...solo is very very Iron-maideny, upto the tapping part...the bridge sounds good too, catchy, but seems unecessary and a little sloppy...great song overall..4/5

6. Hit The Floor : this song is nice, the riffs a bit typical, but the chorus is very very catchy, verse lyrics are a bit dumb..dont make much sense...what i like is the 'woah' part and the key change after it...i know it sounds emo, but i like it, so STFU :D...3.8/5

7. All Theses Things i Hate (Revolve Around Me) : Another Commercial song, prolly to most radio-friendly..has clean vocals almost all through, and acoustic guitar very often...the whole song is pretty non-metal, but its alright...they gotta make money right, so ill allow it :P is a bit repetative, but still, nice song...3.5/5

8. Room 409 : This song is one of the okay songs on this album... its got a simple starting riff, and the chorus is very messy, seems more like a filler...but still a lot of people like this song..but i think theyve made a lot better...so ill give it a ..2.8/5.

9. The Poison : this a better song...the riff plays through the whole song, which gets a bit boring, but the song on a whole is nice...the solo comes in at the right moment, and sounds great...song has a more post-hardcore feel to it, but its welcomed...but they could have done better, its the title song were talking bout here!3.5/5

10. 10 Years Today : This song starts out with a great sounding riff, which blew me away the first time i heard it...but it drowns out into the song...pretty boring song...not well built...i lost intrest within the first minute or so...just a sprt of overrated intro hehe...3/5

11. Cries In Vain : the first BFMV song i heard..this one starts out beatifully, has good verses, choruses...and the breakdown, the interlude, and the harmonized solo-thingy, all help to make this song really really good...the guitars and drums match seamlessly in this song, giving it a very heavy effect..the outro on this one, with the artificial harmonics and all, sounds nice, keeping the whole song great through and through...one of theyre best..4/5

12. Spit You Out : i saw a Trivium concert vid, where they mentioned that they were close buddies with BFMV, and i could tell, after hearing this song...it seems almost all aspects of trivium songs have bin incorporated into this song, for eg the Pre-chorus has a Gunshot feel to it, the chorus has a solo at the back similar to like light or drowned and torn asunder (yeah my blog name ^_^) it stops in between and as a hey-hey-hey drum part just like gunshot ... and has a triviumish breakdown too...though many bfmv parts this visible.....anyway, i like this song too..and to think it came out from the b-side as a bonus...anyway..good song...4/5

13. The End : One of the more longer songs on this album clocked at 6:47..is a nice song...slow start..panteraish solos on the slow chorus, becomes suddenly heavy , sounds insane...the breakdown is great too, all melodic and all...the bridge in between sounds great...but the outro is too too long and repetitive..goes on for almosr 1:30!..which is not good..they should try to cut that a bit...great song none-the-less 4/5

well, that ij all, awesome album, more listenable , more commercial. still a great album, and worth a atleast one time listen ( or download ) hehe..anyway..thats been exhaustive...ive gotta get going..been a plezar..ciao
